My Take On The Mid-Term Election
With the largest, or one of the largest turnouts for a mid-term election, this is what I see:
Contrary to Sarah Palin's assertion that this was a "Very clear message to Pres Obama: we'll send our representatives to DC to stop your fundamental transformation of America. Enough is enough" (see Twitter post here.), it is - sadly - more along the lines of what President Obama stated today, that the American people are "frustrated with the pace of economic recovery". We are a have it now, streaming, don't wait, fast food, instant culture.
There is more to it than the frustration with the recovery, at least my take on it is that there is more to it. Americans are dissatisfied with both political parties. There was a swing in 2008, and now a swing back in 2010. American voters do not like to see one party with a clear majority in both houses AND in the presidency. Americans like a pretty equal mix of parties. Sure, it may slow things down, but - at least in appearances - it looks cleaner and more balanced.
Anyway, thats my take on it.
